Trenching Systems

i-Trencher

The i-Trencher is a highly maneuverable self propelled tracked vehicle that has been designed with minimal ground pressure to enable traction in 10kPa soils.  The primary mission of the i-Trencher is to provide a vehicle that has equal or superior performance to that of an industry standard plough but with more control.  The i-Trencher has 3 main modes of operation: cutting using digger chains, open V-Cut trenching and backfilling.  All of these operations are performed using digger chain assemblies, the proven mining based technology instead of cutting and transporting spoil.  The method of cutting in various soil types will be much cleaner, more efficient and more controlled when compared to standard ploughing.  A full range of tools are fitted to the i-Trencher to ensure the trench quality is at its highest and the products are handled without damage.

Supertrencher I Trenching System (750 hp)

Canyon’s Supertrencher I has quickly established an impressive track record in the North Sea and Gulf of Mexico. By producing 750 shaft horsepower and possessing the ability to perform operations in up to 1,500m of water, it is one of the most powerful and competent trenching systems available. The three modes of operation for this system are tracked, free-fly and pipe running.

The system specializes in rapid post lay burial of submarine installed products to a depth of two meters in varying soil strengths up to 125kPa.

Supertrencher II Trenching System (600 hp)

The Supertrencher II Trenching System was designed specifically to trench and backfill deepwater flowlines, umbilicals and cable products.  The system has 600 horsepower available and is capable of operating in tracked, free fly or pipe follow modes.  The Supertrencher II’s unique jetting and backfill tooling systems allow each trench to be customized based on soil conditions and desired trench profile.  The trencher utilizes several different techniques and features to allow customized trenching depth control.  As a result, product trenching out-of-straightness (OOS) tolerances are easily maintained. This system is capable of burying pipes up to 40cm (16”) diameter to burial depths of 2.0m (depending on soil strength conditions).  It can also be utilized for deep (up to 3,000 meters) post lay burial of submarine cable and umbilical products in varying soil strengths.

Triton T200 Trenching Systems

The T200 trenching ROV systems provide all of the features of a powerful burial system in a compact and versatile package. Configured to support post lay inspection burial and cable maintenance activities, the T200 represents the standard in modern trenching equipment.

The system produces 200 shaft horsepower and is capable of operations in up to 2,500 meters of water. Offering both “free fly” and “tracked” modes of operations using unique retractable track modules, the system maximizes production in varying soil and bottom conditions. Canyon’s T200 trenchers have been configured for rapid mobilization worldwide by minimizing surface support components and deck requirements.
